Cry Out (and Up) for Kenya

Join us in prayer today as we cry out and up to our Lord in intercession for our brothers and sisters in Kenya. Today marks a very historical event for this nation. It is their first election under a new constitution designed to prevent a repeat of the violence after the 2007 election during which more than 1,200 lives were taken. The best thing we can do, the only thing we can do, 8,000 miles away and 8 hours behind is to pray.  Pray for the Christians of Kenya to show Christ’s love this historical day. Pray for peace from the Holy Spirit to fall on this nation. Pray for our Father’s transforming love to touch the heart of not only the people of this country, but of the world. Use Kenya, Lord, to glorify your Holy Name.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
